|Workshop Name||Assessing rigour in qualitative research using the “TACT” framework|
|About Workshop||How to successfully analyse qualitative data? How to systematically assess the rigour of qualitative research? These two main questions occupy the minds of many researchers working with qualitative paradigms. In this workshop participants will explore various ways to tackle these questions. First, they learn how to systematically approach the analysis of qualitative data and discuss various ways of reporting qualitative findings. Second, they learn about the “TACT” framework, which was developed to provide qualitative researchers with a comprehensive set of indicators and strategies to assess the outcome of qualitative research. Finally, participants will have an opportunity to reflect on how the TACT framework can be applied to their work.
The workshop is primarily intended for staff and students learning qualitative research methods for the first time. However, the workshop will also be useful to those who are currently analysing data, to become familiar with systematic strategies of analysing and assessing data. Prior to the workshop, participants will be requested to fill in a short survey to gain a better understanding of their background knowledge in qualitative research. Information collected will be used to structure discussion and engagement in the workshop.
